Gaining a Foothold in Social Marketing
Today people are more focused on social interaction through various social platforms. Old business models fail to accommodate the so-called ‘new wave’ of customers on the internet. The old way being – building the business and not the relationships that the businesses were started with. It is definitely harder for the old cutthroat model to still be successful. The ones that are successful are only successful because they are embedded and known, not because they are liked or respected.
To succeed, you will have to build relationships first and the business will follow. Once you have engaged several (over time, hopefully many) individuals on a ‘relationship’ level, you are on your way to gaining the most important characteristics in business society today… trust and respect. Keep it, and you will have a ROI that will grow exponentially.
Now more than ever, you need to know your market, and you *really* need to know your product line. It isn’t enough to just slap up a quick banner or article and expect the sales to come to you. Don’t be fake. Be transparent. People who are socially involved with people in one of their interests through a social network like Facebook or Twitter can spot a sales pitch a mile away.
